March 2022 will place Serbia and its capital on the world sports map through organisation of two big athletics events. Through Serbian beauty, the Arena, planetary aces of “the queen of sport”, records-holders, gold Olympics medallists, in short the cream of the sport which is the starting point and foundation for all other sports, will parade.
The World Athletics Indoor Championships (18 – 20 March 2022) will, at the Arena, hatch new champions but also a multitude of tears both the ones which show sorrow for missed chances and the happy tears for the achieved results and sports dreams.
The overture to this planetary gathering, only 11 days before the first competitions within WC start, will be “Belgrade Indoor Meeting” which will host the world athletics stars at the athletics field of play in the Arena. It will be the ideal chance for the athletes, competitors of the World Championships, to feel the Arena, track, atmosphere, to check their capacities and find in what psychological and physical state and with what expectations they welcome the most significant indoor competition in the last four years.
The Olympic Games Champion in pole vault, Armand Duplantis, and the best Serbian athlete, the World Champion in long jump, Ivana Spanovic Vuleta who will defend gold won four years ago in Great Britain at the WC 2022 have already confirmed taking part at the seventh athletics Meeting in our capital on 7 March 2022.
