The official draw for the European Water Polo Championships Belgrade 2016

On Sunday, October 4 2015, at the Belgrade City Hall, the draw for the European Water Polo Championships in Belgrade 2016 was held.

Attendees were addressed by the Mayor of Belgrade, Mr. Sinisa Mali, and the President of the European Aqautics Federation (LEN), Mr. Paolo Barelli. The draw was led by the distinguished representative of LEN, Mr. Marco Birri.

This draw determined the schedule, by groups, in men’s and women’s competition.

Guests of the draw, world and European champions, Andrija Prlainović, Dusko Pijetlovic, Nikola Jaksic and Filip Filipovic, and the members of the women’s national team of Serbia, Dragana Ivković and Tijana Jakovljević participated in the draw to determine the schedule in which the groups will compete for the men’s and women’s teams.

Among the guests were the President of the Water Polo Federation of Serbia, Mr. Milorad Krivokapic, General Secretary, Mr. Nemanja Marijan, director of EC Water Polo 2016, Mr. Darko Udovicic, and President of the Executive Board of EC Water Polo 2016, Mr. Rasa Ristivojevic. The draw was attended by over a hundred guests.

The European Water Polo Championships Belgrade 2016 will be held from the 10th to the 23rd of January 2016 in the Kombank arena. Belgrade 2016 will be the largest European water polo championships so far, where, according to an innovative system of competition, a total of 12 women’s and 16 men’s teams will participate.

Group B: Croatia, Serbia, Italiy, France, Germany, Spain


Group A: Montenegro, Spain, Netherlands, Slovakia

Group B: France, Croatia, Malta, Serbia

Grupa D: Hungary, Russia, Greece, Turkey
